"The 3rd Day" is Illegal Operation's third album. Their music is characterized by slow-driving blues patterns and a dark atmosphere. Their musical references include Leadbelly, Tom Waits, Billie Holiday, Nick Cave and others.
The album cover, sleeves, lyrics section and record label were designed by hand with chalk on blackboard, emphasizing the dark and rough power of the music and lyrics. Sketches resembling jailhouse tattoos were used to illustrate the cover and inner sleeves.
